Unsurprising development. I saw Noah and his Ark floating past earlier.

Yeah he went past here as well. Said he will be floating by tomorrow if anyone wants a lift!!
I suppose we will get all the 'this doesn't happen with 3/4g pitches' merchants, turning up now!!
I'd rather we played a decent side like Worthing on a decent pitch later in April, rather than a mud lark lottery tomorrow anyway.

Artificial surfaces can be inundated or covered in snow and ice just like grass ones.
Putting in a 3G at Cherrywood Road wouldn't change the level of the water table - see Cove Brook for more details!
UPDATE - Since Tuesday's game we've had 34.8mm of rain come down on the pitch and another 13.0mm is forecast by 9am tomorrow (Saturday). - In old money, that's nearly 2 inches of rain in just over three days falling on an already soaked surface.

Yes, I accept snow and ice affects artificial as well as grass surfaces.
Not advocating one here, and not knowing the full requirements of installation but, I would assume that as the grass and undersoil surfaces have to be removed, it would make sense to lift the new sub surface by several inches, and install adequate drainage before the top surface is fitted, thereby eliminating the water table of the brook. Could be a further cost though!!
If I am correctly informed, the original brook ran from left hand MRE corner diagonally across the pitch to the right hand PRE 18 yarders corner, before the new ground was built in the 70's. Don't know how, or if, that water trail was ever diverted!!
