Absolutely the right way to go by using Moor Road as a training centre, with RBC agreement. Problem arises with RBC having two senior clubs in their Borough, and the outcry arising should one be favoured over the other.
There is a long standing issue of Aldershot & RBC over the proposed lease/development of the Rec which is currently dragging along very very slowly, so a new venture such as this, even if it were to be proposed, would only increase the pressures, financial and otherwise, on RBC in these struggling economic times, unless finance can be found from outside!!

I'm sure this was looked into by previous owners and wood be owners of developing Moor Road to include an astro pitch . I'm told that the idea has been rejected in the past as they see the area as a flood plain. It would make great economic sense and could also be used by Aldershot aswell. But when do councils and governments do anything that makes sense

How could that happen? It's always been about money and the pockets it ends up in. It's not complicated.

From a business standpoint I think it makes perfect sense to have a 3/4g pitch. Firstly games that would be called off due to the weather would still be on which creates revenue and secondly it could be opened up to the wider community which I'm led to believe the club are eager to do. From a football standpoint depending on the type of pitch it is means that playing football could be difficult and certain players do not like playing on 3 or 4g pitches so it's very much a risk vs rewards scenario.

'From a business point of view' it only makes sense, (for a 1st team playing surface), if the club is to remain stagnant, and not seek to progress upwards, unless the whole concept of synthetic pitches is accepted by the football world in general! Don't hold your breath on that one!!
From a club at our level, theoretically it's only a possible? two seasons of use, before tearing it all up again, and that time won't return the finances to cover the returning to grass.
Quite an expensive gamble! Far better to have a separate synthetic pitch training centre, i.e. Moor Road, that can be hired out, keeping the main pitch grass.
