I just wondered what is happening with our radio coverage of matches this season?
Chris did a great job last season, and yes I know it was all voluntary, but we really miss it now!
I, luckily, stumbled across Worthing's transmission for todays game earlier, and tuned in, which is through Mxlr as we used, and started to listen to the Worthing Broadcast, and then at a later time it sounded like our Andy Smart doing the comms!
Good as that is, and thanks Andy if it was you, did we just piggy back with Worthing's transmissions?, and are we likely to get further permanent commentaries, home and away?
Apologies if that was explained, but I had to leave my visit to drive home and missed the second half, and what a turn around that was!!
Those of us who can't always make away trips, and some home games even, and supporters from afar, find it a very useful way of keeping in touch with the action, and that's not deriding Dom and Jules, excellent forum posts of the game either.

It wasn't Andy, he's on hols in Spain.
There's still, after all these years, a Chairman Mao approach to media relations. I fell victim to it a few years ago (yeah, whatever - Simon was very apologetic as he relayed the message from on high) and the radio lads have now been silenced, despite being very good at what they do. I call it the "bunker" approach.
For goodness sake, just get it that people have different opinions and live with it. If the Club can demonstrate they're right beyond doubt, then fair enough, but shutting down alternative points of view, seemingly on a whim, just demonstrates weakness. We are all bigger than this and it's about time those in charge realised it. All of us want Farnborough FC to succeed.

So are you saying the club shut the radio comment down for some reason? If they did then poor form. As said above I’m lucky I can make all the home games but I definitely can not make most of the away games and found it amazing that on a Saturday I could still hear a cheer on the boro no matter what.

Ask the Club.

I can tell you all now at no such point has the club shut down the radio, the individual who was running this on a voluntary basis decided to stop for his own reasons. To many people watching or supporting this club try to make mountains out of molehills. The club is the best it's been in years, back at a level we all think it should be and on the brink of appearing in the first round of the fa Cup for god knows how many years. So let's all start enjoying it.

I asked. The club did not shut it down, he pulled it. Just as he last shut it down before the play off final, before u-turning. Rumour has it that an allegation was made against Mr Radio, which isn't for me to comment on, and I believe that was the point they stopped promoting the service and didn't agree to his demands for the service continuing. He seems to have spent most of his time, since, hammering the club on his socials. Players, fans and officials, so perhaps he's not the greatest loss, even though he did a decent job of it on the face of it. That said, I'm sure both Garbo and Chris will be only too happy to give their sides, in person, if you bump into either of them at a game (although you might have to go to Fratton Park to find Chris). I was also told that Garbo and Andy Smart will be restarting the service. Nigel, with respect, your situation and his don't appear to be similar in any way. You're a club legend, sir.

I was also told when I asked it was due to the conduct of certain individuals behind the scenes not connected with the broadcasting and serious allegations having being made about them, all of which were nothing to do with the quality of the broadcasting which was excellent.
I was also told the club will be re-starting the radio commentaries in the future with it being brought ‘in-house’ so-as-to-speak.

The re-starting again is really good news as the guys who did it were excellent, the background to it stopping is very sad to hear and does nothing for our club. The fact that they are considering re-starting is superb news as like Bob I always listen to the match when I am away overseas or cannot make the game. Well done for realising that this reinforces our club support and will always increase our home support to be there to support in person. After yesterdays result and the compliments the Worthing commentator made of how we play and the quality it is nice to hear it said from someone not connected to our club, so the radio is another string to our bow 😀.

I'm not interested in the politics, why or where for, or who said or did what in the past, it's gone and we can't do anything about it now!
I'm just concerned with what is, or will be, good for the Club!!, now and in the future, and good communications is vital!!
Lets hope those in command are fully aware of it!!
It's great to hear that there are moves afoot to re-start the commentary of matches again.
Earlier in the season we warmly welcomed a new sponsor with, I thought, the premise of improving PR and Media outlets for the Club.
Maybe, hopefully, this is something that comes under their jurisdiction.
Any extra publicity is good for the Club, as it grows, and we currently haven't been in such a good place for a long time.
Excellent squad, playing some very good football, and on the verge of some really exciting times.
Crowds improving, Sponsorship list improving steadily, youngsters returning to the club, and a thriving very young generation, mini kickers etc growing by the day.
All good signs that the Club is on the up again.
Now is the time to build on it!!!!!!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

I thought, the premise of improving PR and Media outlets for the Club. The PR is in a much better state than it was in the past. In previous season, social media used to have a goal update, half time, full time and attendance from FWP, which wasn't always reliable. Now, with the addition of a new media person, we get live tweets which are helpful for people unable to attend. It's even better with radio commentary. Furthermore, there has clearly been a negotiation regarding video highlights as we only used to get clips of goals and occasional interviews with staff. But now, we get regular, weekly highlights and interviews. It's better, and the only way is up from here!

This is good news if the club are restarting this as this was a great device provided to us fans who can’t make all the games. I fully understand there may be some they can’t broadcast maybe due to the home teams own service or If it’s a cup competition but for the most it was great to be able to tune in and follow from a far.

The video highlights of games is not just our Club's doing but, I believe, a deal sorted out by the National League, and covers all NL Clubs.
Whoever is responsible, it is welcomed by supporters and good to be able to see the action, albeit around 48 hours after the match, but that's no matter, its another plus as far as I am concerned.
