Yesterday some of the behaviour of our supporters was not something we need to see at our club. That being said the stewarding at Hayes was in my opinion poorly organised. The first serious incident when the fence went after the goal, they failed to react quickly enough and took our club officials to get you to move back . That became obvious then why the safety certificate was issued so low. The second incident when the supporters tried to change ends at a segregated match and opened the gates, there were no stewards Manning the gates and again our club officials had to move you back. Then again at the end of the game possibly because they lacked numbers their were no stewards pitch side trying to stop the invasion. That said the behaviour of our supporters and Hayes was pathetic, we should have been celebrating not fighting. Our players club staff and former stewards should not have had to be on that pitch separating idiots. Farnborough have issued a statement today saying banning orders will be sent out to anyone identified and found guilty, hopefully they do.

The pitch-barrier incident was potentially very serious.
Your team scores, fans rush forward to congratulate the scorer running towards them. Perfectly natural behaviour. But ...
... if the pitch-side barrier isn't stressed then it's easily overwhelmed, which is what happened. Thank goodness it didn't break completely as there could have been some nasty injuries.
We learned this lesson in the home FA Cup tie v Torquay, 31 years ago, when the pitch-side barrier at the Prospect Road End collapsed after we scored. I think the worst injury incurred was a broken arm, but it could have been far more serious.
Subsequently, the pitch-side barriers installed in the terraced-areas at Farnborough have been stress-tested, but no one is allowed within 2m of them either way. Maybe it's belt and braces, but it is safe.
Clearly a very cash-strapped Hayes, desperate to get the Yeading site open to host football matches, put in a nice-looking metal railing that was never designed to cope with how football fans behave when their team scores.
Hillingdon Borough Council were right to severely restrict the capacity and, if sensible, will now mandate a proper stress-tested pitch-side barrier before agreeing to any increase.

We commented while watching on tv, that the perimeter fence was never going to hold back anymore than a single row of supporters.. When we scored it was obvious to see it was about 10 deep...
Always thought the 2m gap Boro have in place is a great design, use it as a thoroughfare but no standing.
As for the pitch invasion at the end, a line of stewards across the halfway line would have been a deterrent for most...
Hopefully all we identified from the live footage, shouldn't be that tricky to spot the idiots that never need to come back to Boro..
Seems that big games attract them as there has been several incidents at games over the weekend..
Shame we have to talk about this side of things when we should be enjoying the heroics of team.

I saw a post online Monday evening which clearly showed that the barrier was never secured enough to be declared “safe, there was a hole around the bottom of it which probably spanned 10 inches which had been caused by movement of the post - let’s hope this is invested before any major accidents occur, behind the goal wasn’t very sturdy either.
As for the the fighting and trying to get through the segregation barrier, which was lead by two grown “men” that were on the coach (so we should have both names) one of which is an ex youth age group coach and kids that are known to other people that volunteer their time to the club. A few of them were also back at the club on Monday night so hopefully they’re all identified easily and dealt with accordingly
