I see what you mean by 'real' but I think it's good to have some sports to watch. I knew the Premier League would come back with controversy (which it did with Villa v Sheffield Utd), but so does football at all levels. I remember the game at Cherrywood at the start of the season v Poole. The ref pointed to the penalty spot and then overturned it because he was convinced to do so by the players. Yes humans make mistakes, and I suppose it is sometimes ok to rely on the technology, but the refs should also make their own decisions.
It is impossible financially in the 'real' world of non league to install the high tech monitors and screens. But as we've said a lot before, the Premier League, Championship, Champions League etc is all blown out of proportion for what it actually is.
Whenever we can all go back to Cherrywood Road (shouldn't be a challenge to get people to socially distance) I look forward to seeing all the players again. Real football.

Second paragraph say it all for me Tom!
The top flight games are blown up out of all proportion, financially and commercially, and the only reason they are playing at all IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO, not because they want too!!
Thousands seriously ill and passing away, and all they are concerned about is Money. They just don't know what the real world is!
Most Clubs are in hoc, big time, to the TV companies, and they have mortgaged the money they support the Clubs with to film games, so they would be unable to repay if games are not played and contracts are considered broken, and the companies sue!!
Players, Directors, Agents, Shareholders all as guilty of chasing the TV dollar, and the whole shebang is basically unsustainable.
I suppose it depends if armchair customers renew their contracts or not, mine is cancelled, as to whether it continues or not!

I imagine until fans are back in the stadium, this principle will continue. If the schedulers go back to the old 6-8 games on Saturday and the rest on Sunday format, the TV companies - and the league itself - will suffer financially as their are no fans generating revenue as they walk through the door. As I already said it is financially focused and I can't ever see that changing! I can only envisage a change in format when fans are allowed to get back into the stadium as they will assist the club's revenue (without realising).
On the other hand, in the non league, I read the NLP article about Spencer Day recently. A decent read, but if what he says is true, and football at this level doesn't get back to normal until 2021-22, then a lot of lower league clubs could face a financial problem. I'm sure I read online somewhere that the Premier League would help out lower league clubs but I'm not sure if that has happened or not. If it hasn't, I think it would be a good gesture for them to do so, because as I said, I reckon a lot of clubs from League Two and below will struggle from this pandemic.
Take Bury for example. They struggled for money in the "normal" economy. But now I dread to think what it will be like for clubs as the economy slowly gets going again.
Health and safety > football and money

Am presently reading a book called THE BOTTOM CORNER by Nige Tassell relating to a season of hope, glory and non-league football. A good read and reflects why perhaps "the tide is turning towards the lower reaches of the pyramid as fans search for football with a soul". Many stories of why the non-league game for me is so much better than the professional game. Good weekend.

" Football with a soul", good strap line Peter.
That's my point really, The PL and Championship Clubs, and to a certain extent Divs 1 & 2 have sold their souls to the financial gods!!, and the rest of the football world is left dangling in the fallout, and worst of all they don't give a toss, unless you miraculously unearth a half decent young player, then they are all over you.

"The PL and Championship Clubs, and to a certain extent Divs 1 & 2 have sold their souls to the financial gods!!"
In contrast to this, and due to financial issues throughout the pandemic, Wigan Athletic have just gone into administration. I can only imagine a Bury or Bolton-esque situation again! And I don't doubt there are more clubs at the same level struggling too!

I'm sure there are many more to come Tom, at all levels, and maybe even more so at our level where Clubs have very little in the way of collateral to keep them afloat!!
In the case of Wigan though, I feel there are other matters behind the scenes that have been brought to a head by the financial restraints of Covid! A Club that has been bought and sold twice in a very short time, and then put, almost immediately, in to administration which begats a 12 point deduction and almost certain relegation by the new owners, makes you wonder just what motif the new owners would have, and why would anyone buy the Club and then do that?? A lot more questions to answer for someone there!!
Interesting that Begby Traynor are the administrators!! Now where have I heard that name before?? Oh yes!!!!!
