Chaps, We've often remarked that we can't recall when we last scored from a corner? Well, take a look at the post titled "Watch all this seasons' goals here" and you'll see it was Connor Cullen back in August!
Good goal too!!! I discounted the goal we scored against Yate on 7th March (7 months later!) 'coz it was an OG.
Someone will probably point out that I have got this wrong.... Stay safe and see you in the stand again soon... BTS

Bob - I kid you not
'Cuddle Keeper' tactics appear to have produced bugger all direct corner related goals this season (as we well know!)
A great lofted Reggie corner to a leaping Connor resulted in a quality score in the match I referred to.
I hope that the coaching staff keep it simple and learn the value of having someone deep for the overhit ball...

I hope that the coaching staff keep it simple and learn the value of having someone deep for the overhit ball... Being an old git, I recall a certain Simon Read hanging deep on corners, almost nonchalantly dropping his shoulder to send his marker the wrong way and then filling his boots against a defence turned around against their will. Virtually no coach is interested in this simple tactic now, despite the basic law of probability that says a fair number of well flighted corners will be deflected diagonally into a predator's path. Instead, far too many corners are softly hit dollies into any half-way decent keeper's arms or have insufficient height or pace to beat the first man. D'oh! Coaches need to speak to the likes of Colin Fielder. He knew how to drive and flight a corner kick to create maximum discomfort to the oppo defence. It's interesting how football coaching is full of fads. Some of the newer fads show real progress, others just show how easily lessons from the past can be forgotten.
