Agree re Hisham and Selim. We can't afford sentiment.
Hish is a shadow of the player he was for now. He may come good again - I really hope he does - but I don't see that as a punt we should take. There's been little enough evidence to suggest he's close to turning the corner. And if he's putting unsubtle critical posts on social media....well, relations sound strained anyhow. If we're going to give anyone a chance to work their way back to fitness, Jon Page deserves that chance.
I've a lot of time for Selim and he certainly worked hard to adapt to a more defensive role earlier in the season. But in the end the team was stronger without him. And his decision making hasn't improved. Still too often three touches where one would do. Great skills, seems a likeable lad, I just find his over-elaboration so frustrating. Suspect the wage will be better spent elsewhere.
We do badly need a stronger physical presence up front too.....

Agreed on the striker and if Spencer is getting a striker it needs to be one with a strikers record. Too many times he’s taken a punt on a striker who has struggled to get double digits in the past and they’ve been awful here.
He either needs to go lower or same division and grab someone who actually knows where the back of the net is and isn’t afraid to shoot.

If Hish isn't interested then it's best for all parties to part ways. Was he thinking of his holidays a few games back to turn out half a performance and have "niggles"? We were in a bit of a pickle when we had all the strikers on the books, and took the gamble on sticking with Hish and MML.
Reggie played 40+ games, which at wing back is quite some achievement. Was a case of square peg and round hole (even though at Weymouth he kept it very tidy with 10 men). If Spencer wants to play wing backs, go and get one. Free up Reggie to play forward, but unfortunately can't see him getting in if we do play wing backs as he'll be surplus.
Jayden Davis was the one that got away. He was miles ahead of everyone in midfield with passing and vision. Unfortunately at that time we didn't have a midfield to hold in behind him and he was being asked to do too much and dumped off as we were being overrun. Wasn't the problem!
Hady would be a very intelligent signing. Was the best all round forward we had this season in my opinion. Worked hard, wasn't afraid to shoot, take on defenders and link up play. I would gamble and focus the forward line around him and make him part of the spine of the team. Pay what he's worth and show him he can be the first choice #9.
Selim never did enough this season unfortunately.
Agreed on Hollis. Not 100% on Robinson sadly.
Hope Edon enjoys his early flight he was catching on Saturday. Needless red card.

Yes, I'd much rather have players that want to be here and it shows. Folivi was buzzing when he signed for Hemel.
Players coming here have to know that we aren't the biggest squad, and sometimes you might have to play through a small knock due to lack of squad depth. It is improving.
I haven't seen Hish's post on social media, but if that's the case, then I'd prefer it if he went elsewhere.
Spencer has said the squad don't have long to decide on contracts so hopefully we have a retained list soon.

I quite liked Spencer's post match thoughts regarding player retention. Get the business done early of those that want to stay. Reward those that show willing and desire. Move on those that think they can play chess moves to earn an extra £50 somewhere else. Keep those that want to be here not be blackmailed or held to ransom. The whole Salim/Barnsley affair last year left a bitter taste.
Then build the team around those that are staying.
Good work

Luckily we have preseason friendlies so the likes of Hish can be given a chance to run out on fresh legs instead of being jettisoned.

Yeah if he is still willing to give his all for us then he deserves a pre-season. I feel like some of the comments towards Hish have been a bit harsh but at the same time if he doesn’t want to be here then we should absolutely get rid. The criteria for whether he gets a chance or not should be based solely on whether he wants to be here or not and whether or not he is as committed as he was pre-Sutton.

Maxwell Mullins has signed back on for Shots, unsurprisingly, as detailed in the other thread.
Given the players don't have long to decide on their contract, according to Spencer, hopefully we get the full retained list soon. I'd rather hear about it officially rather than on the social media channels as we did for some last year.

Regarding this, Woking have announced that they have transfer listed Pavey.

If we need a left back, Paul Osew seems like a decent fit for this level now he's been released by Woeking. Again, just a matter of finances.
