As my Grandson and I pulled up at the club waiting for the coach today, I sensed a terrific atmosphere with the assembled supporters, fancy dress, laughing, retro shirts, and everyone in great spirits for a match we simply HAD to win!!
No tension though, no frowns, no worrying, but a great bubbling anticipation of a good day out and result.
To hell with all the other teams, lets do our bit and wory about it at five o'clock!
Reaching Weymouth, even more fancy dressers, stag groups and more supporters in retro shirts, a wonderful sight.
The endless singing and chanting didn't stop, and the boys on the pitch gave us a brilliant finish to a superb season.
No nonsense on the terraces, no silliness, good behaviour, great humour and support for the lads.
A season that had started off in high hopes, stuttered a bit with major signings that didn't cut the mustard. They were dispatched and a younger, hungrier group of replacements filed in.
The results came, and a tremendous run of wins took us to the very verge of play off places which unfortunately, even with a 2-1 win, we missed by just ONE point!! (Thanks for rolling over Bath!)
So lets give a big thank you to Rob, Spencer, the Baker boys, all, the backroom staff and volunteers, and above all the players for a wonderful season, for providing so many happy smiling faces around the club again.
Thanks to Sue, Kelly, and Sarah for organising the travel arrangements through the season, and Phil for driving the minibus.
Past experience tells me how difficult it can be to organise coaches etc, so thank you all again for what you do.
So the season comes to a close, on a huge high, and with all the good people behind it, and the fantastic support, this club will only get better and better!!!!
Spencers report tonight says it all!
Don't forget CJ's special game next week. If there's one man that personifies this Club it's him.
Well done everyone, and thank you for a wonderful day. That's why we follow this great club!!
On to next season then. COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
