Copied from a post on Facebook
"Heard on Talksport today that not a single club that's been promoted from the Conference in the last 20 years has come straight back down and that an incredible 13% (more than one in ten!) has done back-to-back promotions to League One. It really is insane that only two teams go up to the EFL. The standard in the NL is so high and so professional that year on year it's becoming more and more obviously ridiculous for it to not be treated as a professional league and at least be given an additional promotion spot if not incorporated into the EFL itself."
An interesting statistic. As Spencer said on BBC Surrey last week, the league strengthening and turning mostly professional is going to happen to Step 2 in the future as well.

You only have to look at the performance of relegated teams from L2 to see the level: they pretty-much finish middle of the pack in the NL. The top 2/3 of the division in standard is essentially the same as L2 from top to bottom, the bottom 1/3 are largely those clubs still semi pro or full-timers having a shocker under a manager new to the level or with massive financial constraints.
