And it's goodnight from Sid...

Sad to see Sid go.
I wonder if Sid moving on is more about SD’s ruthlessness in terms of not having injury prone players, rather than Sid’s actual performances.
Of the 9 ‘big’ summer signings (not counting Cullen, Payce and Jobson) only Ricky remains! I know Mekki is on loan and still technically our player but I can’t see him featuring again unless we fall on desperate times.
Can’t help but feel disappointed with the recruitment tbh. It promised so much but apart from Alfie Pavey delivered so little.

I’m honestly not suprised, closer to home for Sid so better and they are offering him a long contract too. Other than the last game he’s struggled with injuries and hence struggled with form.
Hopefully Sid going releases a little bit of cash for Spencer should he need it between now and the end of the season.

Might give him a chance to find a proper right back!!

Think we'll need another CB too. If the game wasn't called off yesterday we'd only have had CJ and Ball fit. Saw Robbo at Dartford game and he said it was several weeks till he'd be back and Spencer said Hollis wasn't fit yet.
It's going to be an interesting last few months of the season and then yet another rebuild in the summer. Rinse and repeat.

I don't think we saw the best of him apart from the last game as you say because of injuries.I liked him on the pitch because he was vocal.I think we lack that sometimes. He was MOM yesterday too in Chatham's home win who seem to be on the up averaging around 1200 for home games.

I thought he was just starting to settle recently, but with him going it it does leave room for a younger right back, and Sid was probably not one of the cheaper members of the squad!
As was mentioned earlier, looking at the 'major' signings in the summer, and the great expectations given, all of whom have departed, there has to be some sort of examination of the initial recruitment process, or is there something deeper happening here??

A fair proportion of the major signings last summer that haven't worked out i.e. Partington, Upward, Mekki, Folivi and Nelson, had several things in common:-
- All have been established players at National division level or better. - All have had very major injuries in their careers. - With the exception of Folivi, perhaps time was catching up with them, as none are getting any younger. - Apart from Partington, all had significant absences through injury during their brief stays at the Club. - Apart from Mekki, all had had very little recent experience at National South level.
The other recruits? Well clearly it worked well for us and Pavey (although not so well for him since his transfer), while Maloney and Perez rarely looked convincing and also had fitness issues during their time here.
Maybe it's just been bad luck, maybe the Club needs to change its template when targeting additions to the playing squad.
Whichever, it's been a costly exercise having expensive players in the squad whose availability and form has been a long way below expectations.

With Folivi I heard most of his injuries were in his head or he feigned injury as he didn't want to play for us. How true this is I don't know.

If you listen to his interview after signing for Hemel you’d have thought he’d just signed for Real Madrid the way he was talking, rather than a team where he’ll be playing in front of 300 people and a Labrador. He seemed beyond relieved to have gotten away from Boro and signed for the giants of Hemel, the whole interview came across as a dig at Spencer and the club. I keep seeing Boro fans pining over him on Twitter - ‘All the best Michael’ ‘The one that got away’ ‘What could have been’ etc. etc. I just don't get it, I feel he didn’t give his all for us, didn’t want to be here and so my mindset is very much bollocks to him. Hish and Hady are better than him, Millar and Harvey time will tell but at least there’s effort there, they want to be here and aren't feigning injuries!

Very difficult trying to be positive about Folivi when he missed chance after chance - he is not a bad player as he is able to do the hard part of getting into the position to have the chances, but dear me he couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo & same thing applied playing against us the other week as well!

That definitely sounded like a dig. Trying to be subtle but failing. Much like his attempts on goal really. Good riddance. We've wasted a lot of money thus past year. Need to start planning now and utilise Bakes.
