Partington who the St Albans fans were telling me has been average, and Connor hall has been away for only two games - had one great game (unless you went to the brackley game at the weekend and tell me different as he didn’t score). So Pavey who’s been struggling the last couple of years comes and does well, Lokko last year came down and did well. Freddie Grant did well (proven step 2), Jack turner has had plenty of step 2 experience aswell, he’s not failed. Ricky Holmes, Sam Deering in promotion season, shall I continue? You’ve literally named two players. We are never going to get players in their prime unless this is the best level they can be at. People need to try and see the positives sometimes. I maintain that, particularly this season, Spencer has often failed to get the best out of the players we have - playing them out of position, using formations that don't work, not having a right-back or screening midfielder etc. Pavey is an exception. You sound like you're blaming the players for our sometimes atrocious results. As I say, after 14 years of Spencer and two extremely long periods without an away win during that time, I'm still around and that shows optimism, I think. I know plenty of lifelong fans who abandoned the club forever because of Spencer. I'm optimistic that Neil will add something - the club clearly feels we needed someone else in the management team to do so, otherwise he wouldn't be here. Bring it on.

Think you’re misunderstanding me. I blame both players and management for the inconsistent season we are having. I do think the NL players we got this season were past there best and despite being at other clubs now aren’t still tearing it up. I do think we need to have more of a brand. How do we play? Do the players know as every 15 mins we keep changing formation. I listed many players where I think Spencer has done well. Doesn’t mean there are failures. But there are instances of that at every club up and down the leagues. I think we both want the same thing - a more consistent performance.

They're really is some nonsense spoken on this forum sometimes! We shouldn't criticise Spencer because he might suddenly up sticks and leave?? I don't believe there is anything wrong with constructive criticism and don't honestly believe he would anyway. He has invested too much in the club to leave without selling. I certainly will always be grateful for Spencer in saving the club and he has his place in our history. But my honest opinion is that we need someone really experienced at this level, or a promising young manager to come in and take us to the next step. The best time would be after the season ends. That having been said, it's a brilliant move to get Bakes in, and hopefully his knowledge, experience and contacts will have a very positive effect!
