Whilst I'm very happy to get six points from two games Ginger, today was a carbon copy of Saturday, one shot, one goal, and defend the siege of the Alamo!!
But for JT in both games, we would have got battered!! One good point from the game though, we at least played with a back four!! and Sid had a pretty reasonable game at right back, ably assisted by Reggie tracking back, but it did give him some room for forward runs as well.
Reggie very unfortunate to be yellowed early on during one of his runs, although rightly carded for the second for a rash challenge.
JT pulled of a couple of worldies, as Havant woke up after we scored, Aaron was superb in midfield, and bodies thrown in the tackles to defend, got us a valuable win, but it was far from pretty!!
Several knocks, and Folivi pulling up again is a bit worrying. Is he made of glass? Did Chelmsford know something when they let him go?
So, all in all, six great points, but both Braintree and Havant must be wondering how they lost!!
We rode our luck, but that's football, and I happily accept it.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

What Bob said. Whilst in no way would any sane person be calling for Spencer out when we're 8th and 2 points off the playoffs, anyone claiming we're world beaters and start singing "we are going up" is equally as bonkers. Let's not forgot we're only a few weeks hence from booing and cries that the players are shit. Small margins, hey

Won't criticise the players and management for their tremendous efforts to win the last two games, but we were very lucky. Without JT we would have lost both games comfortably. And it's entirely possible we will lose to H&W on NYD! Respecting what Spencer has done to save the club, I certainly wouldn't want him to step aside and think he would do well as a Head of football, scouting talent. But as a manager, he has taken the club as far as he can. Even Ted Pearce had to admit this when he left! And he needs to protect his investment by bringing in an experienced manager or an up and coming new talent.

Absolutely right Archbishop. I agree the six points from the last two games were very welcome but, by the same token, very fortuitous, we could well of had a very different Christmas but for JT!!
I have always said that Spencer and Rob have done a tremendous job in getting us back to NLS level which, in truth is probably what Conference National used to be some years ago, and I am not wanting either of them gone. I'm not sure that they would anyway with their investment so far!
I truly believe though that we are now at the tipping point of the Clubs existence.
To stay at this level would would not be the end of the world, and is actually a damn good level to be playing at. Conundrum time now though. Do we want to progress? Natural answer should always be yes! How can we progress? Improvements on the field? Yes. Serious expenditure required? Yes. Better Management of the players that we have? Yes without doubt.
Question three, re finance, is an obvious one, but difficult to attain properly without going in to financial meltdown, and we have been there before.
I believe that Question four is answerable, but would require a much higher level of Management than we currently have, despite the good work that has been achieved to date.
It requires a lot of self belief to say, I've taken this as far as I can, and need to step back to hand it over to someone better qualified!
We have a great bunch of players who, I don't doubt, give everything when they play.
My concern is that they are constantly having to change styles, formations, and positions, which don't allow for any form of continuity, and subsequent constant form.
This strikes me of a Management that has run out of ideas, and maybe some fresh blood is needed.
Spencer to step back as a Director of football, or whatever, to allow a fresher football mind to take over team duties would be a great benefit all round.

As I've said before, I think after recent successes Spencer has more than earned the right to try and carry us forward.
I also think any incoming manager would face similar issues or, perhaps lacking experience, worse. Managerial stability is a rare asset.
Where I completely agree - and where I think the heart of the issue is - are his comments around finance and the 'natural level' of the club.
The four clubs promoted to the National League last season now occupy the four relegation slots. Nearly half the National League now have recent League experience. Torquay and Yeovil are in our league. Objectively it's plain that smaller, part-time clubs like us with more limited incomes face more, better resourced competitors than before. Nothing to suggest that trend will change or subside.
There are ways of punching above our weight - Spencer has had some misses in the player market but by and large he's done bloody well. Can we keep on doing that - well, it's a high wire act.
I'm not sure who the best role model club in the National League for us would be - maybe Wealdstone ? Their average gate is around 1500 and they now have planning permission for a new stadium. Punching above their weight but making it work. And seem a really decent club, apart possibly from that strange Raider bloke !
We do need to generate more funds, there was a call for investors earlier this year which presumably didn't find anyone. If I had the money......
In the meantime we are building slowly, hopefully sustainably. We may have to hold in the National League South for a couple of years to get there - so bloody hard to get promoted from this league - but so long as we're still progressing, that isn't so bad. Cup runs and a bit of stardust certainly would help though !
What the club really can't lose is the amazing spirit of the place, it has to remain a community club. Minor disagreements on this or that subject are nothing, there are great people here. It's a cliche that often isn't true at all but definitely is at Farnborough - the people are the club.

A great statement that!! There is a certain sprit about this place. Don't what it is, but its there!! Maybe its because of all the crap we, and those before us, have had to endure over the years.
Those that have been around through all the dark days of boom, bust, re-birth, and all the awful times of bailiffs and financial disasters, are forever mindful of the pitfalls, and disasters that can lurk in the darkness!!
Call it wartime spirit if you like, but people pulled together then to make sure it never happens again, and that is the feeling I get here now.
Agreed, there are some great people at Farnborough who will always keep the feet to the fire of Owners and Managers, but all done with the full knowledge that this is OUR club, and we want it to thrive, regardless of who has their name on the title deeds!!
Ok, win some lose some, but we still have a club!! Many would like what we have!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
