Sorry to bring the Christmas mood down a bit, but I received a call a while back from Dave's son Matt, telling me of the sad passing of Dave, a good friend to me, and all at Boro.
Dave had been poorly, as I reported a while back, and following a downturn in health and a second stroke, he passed away peacefully in hospital.
A quiet family funeral was held on Wednesday this week, and the family request was that this news was not given out until after the event, which I respectfully agreed with.
Dave and I spent many happy hours arranging and organising the supporters away coach travel. He then became Chairman of FaST, prior to Garry Ward, and we subsequently ran the 50/50 table for many years together.
A good friend to all, a true Boro man, and a sad loss to all that knew him.
A formal Club tribute will be organised shortly.
Condolences to his Wife Lynn, and all the family at this sad time.
R.I.P. my friend.

A good man who would stop for a half in the prince of Wales whilst waiting for his train back to Oxfordshire, in later years.

Very sad news.
Always enjoyed seeing Dave when I could make it to a matchday. His work at the club, supporting them through thick and thin and volunteering at the 50/50 stall each week, while listening to Spurs on the radio, will not be forgotten.
RIP Dave.

Sorry to say, I made big error in saying that Dave preceded Garry in the FaST Chairmanship when, in fact the wonderful Graham Ellicott preceded Garry and Dave preceded Graham.
Apologies to Graham's family for a crass error. Equally good work from all of them.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Dave. A friendly and affable man that was very supportive of the club over many years. Always enjoyed his company whether on a Supporter’s coach trip or standing on the terrace of an away ground not to mention the FaST Board meetings and 50/50 desk.
He ran a very tight ship for FaST and much was achieved during his period of stewardship as Chairman. An outstanding contribution was made along with his friend Bob selling 50/50 tickets and the money generated could then be used on projects to improve the club infrastructure. My condolences to his family at this difficult time.
RIP Dave

Nothing I can add, except that Dave will always be synonymous with Farnborough to me.
Hope to be there for the club tribute.

I'm a little late to this as I now live in Australia and had to register for the forum again as it's been so long since I posted. Dave was a great guy, and he was just the sort of person we needed in the early days of the supporters' trust. I always found him to be calm, considered, honest, patient and fair - but doggedly determined when he had to be. In those days the club was in some serious turmoil, and there were a few loud personalities around the place. Dave's considered approach was absolutely spot on. It's great to see the club doing so well these days, and much of it is down to the groundwork of the early FaST committee members. Thanks to all the volunteers whose work makes this club what it is. Rest in peace Dave, and condolences to Matt and the rest of the family.

Hi Paul, great to hear from you again, even though its not a very nice subject to talk about, but I know we have some good memories of Dave. Message me with a phone number, or do you skype? It would be great to have a chat. Bob
