Time for reflection

Lets face a few truths here.
We were well beaten yesterday by Worthing, probably, the best team we have seen here this season and who will almost certainly be in the play off areas come April.
Decent payers, well coached, and Managed by a very experienced 'football' man!
I don't detract from our team for effort, and truly believe that no footballer ever goes on to the pitch not wanting to try his best and we, like Worthing, have a very good talented bunch, that are just down on confidence at the moment. To openly boo players off the pitch is not helpful, whatever you may feel.
Top half of NL South isn't such a bad place really, and we should be very happy with the overall state of the club, and its facilities, today compared with what went on not so many years ago, although much has to be done to ensure we don't slip below that line, and some superb work is going on behind the scenes with the two Trusts, and volunteers etc!!
I have always said though, that everything about the Club is influenced by what happens on the pitch.
Not necessarily a constant winning team, although that helps of course, but a team that competes fully and earnestly.
I accept losing, if it is a hard battling performance, but understand if people get upset when we offer very little resistance, or lose in a whimper as Spencer said!!
This current squad is very down on confidence, and needs encouragement and lifting, from the side AND from the Management/Coaching team.
After the last two or three games we have heard, in Spencer's interviews, him calling some players, big time Charlies. Accused some of taking the mickey out of him, and threatening big changes, and losing games in a whimper!!
Hardly conducive to team harmony and, possibly what is contributing to the downturn in some players attitudes!!
If your Boss spoke about you, and your mates, like that in public, would you run through a brick wall for him?? No!!
Spencer, I know you are as frustrated as the rest of us, and I know read this forum, but these are the players you, presumably, interviewed before signing!!
These are the players that you, and your coaching team coach and train.
These are the players that you select on a match day!
These are the players that you advise on tactics prior to a game and at half time!
If things go wrong during a game, it's you that has to make the decision as to subs and tactic changes!
During most of last night, you stood motionless, head down and with your hands in your pocket!
The triple substitution at 75 minutes, and 3-0 down, was just bizarre!
Lets be honest, it isn't always the players fault, and there has to be some form of personal acceptance to what is happening, and that is what is so frustrating for the supporters of our great club.
You have done some great work for this Club, and we should all be very grateful for where we are today, but I personally think that you have reached your pinnacle as Manager, and should consider a step backwards from the dugout!
You have great contacts, and have brought us some wonderful players, but I feel it would be beneficial now for you to continue to find such players and hand them over to Ricky or Steve to do the coaching and Matchday work.
Director of Football is a common term at Clubs these days, and I'm sure all at the Club would honour and respect you for taking the position on!
Tempus Fugit, and all that!!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
