Absolute shite.
We scored a goal, but other than that, barely anything for the entire game and two extremely poor goals to concede. I think I can count on one hand the shots we had on target (although I may have missed some things as there were issues with the stream). Conversely, they could have scored much more than they did.
Whatever it is causing the away form to be this much of an issue has to be the priority of focus. We haven't won away, competitively, in more than 7 months.
I was watching on the stream and the camera was just above the dugouts, so heard a lot of what Spencer had to say.
Just before the second half started and the teams were on the pitch before the restart, Spencer shouted "Stop standing around and having a laugh. We're f***ing 1-0 down." I may be reading too much into that, but if that is the mentality of some players, then they need to have a look at themselves!
I suspect Spencer read them the riot act at in the dressing room.
P.S. Not quite sure what happened around the start of the second half at the Farnborough end, where the referee went over to the steward and also spoke with both managers.... hope everything is alright.

The live stream was absolute rubbish. As was pointed out by Phil after the Chelmsford game last season, where this was trialled for the first time, National League TV use the home club's video operation system and equipment, and therefore in my opinion don't deserve the blame (neither do Chippenham.) Some clubs may not be up to the same standards as we have ours at, and we are very lucky to have what we have. It was a frustrating match that wasn't helped by the stream, I admit, but these are all volunteers that are trying their best.

Two absolute whoopers purporting to be Boro fans racially abused the Chippenham player that was down (faking) injury. The game was done as soon as that happened tbh as it put fire in the Chippenham players and I think some of ours felt rightly embarrassed. The ref was appalling throughout giving everything their way and falling for Chippenham players regular Oscar winning performances, but there’s no escaping from the fact we played shit again away from home. I really thought today was going to be the day we broke the away curse.

Fair do's but we still paid our hard earned to watch really frustrating coverage, which clearly wasn't worth £9.50.

A lot of huffing and puffing but some very simple errors and mistakes in another overall poor performance on the road, simple 10 yd passes going astray, too much hoofball up to Connor and Michael. A couple of decent saves first half from free kicks which the keeper held on to, but other than the goal which was well worked we struggled to create anything of note and deservedly lost. Chippenham tried to play football but a poor performance from us allowed them to control the game for most.
Whichever idiot threw the flare on at the end should be banned, probably the same idiot making ignorant (racist?) comments, not a true Boro fan(s).
Frustrating evening for the club all round .

The players need to take a hard look at themselves we are second bottom on away form and without a win in 7 months. Yeah we’re undefeated at home but at the end of the day the hardcore fans are those that follow the boro away there’s long travel times there and back spending their hard earned money to watch that drivel over and over, it makes me wonder how much more they’ll put up with before no one goes to support the team as it’s so depressing. I’ve commented before on our away form and seen all the excuses (not our day, it’s a tough ground to go to, their a top team) and there has to come a point where there can’t be an excuse at what point does it have to get to before we go to an away game where it’s no longer just accepted. There’s a few away days I’ve looked at recently and in the future and I’ve either talked myself out of going because at the moment al I can see is us losing or I’m thinking why bother we’re only going to lose which is the complete opposite feeling I get for home games. I want that home game feeling on away days so badly.

I heard what was said, aimed at an Chippenham player receiving treatment. As did several Chippenham players and at least one Boro' player. Totally unacceptable behaviour and I hope the Club can gather sufficient evidence to come down very hard on the perpetrator. Initially the incident wasn't handled well as a Chippenham steward behaved in an unprofessional manner (I won't give details - I totally understand why he was very angry and was on the verge of losing it completely - but, but). Wiser heads eventually prevailed and I understand one (or possibly two?) were ejected from the ground.

I hope the club can identify them and not only ban them for life if they are boro supporters but also report them to the authorities. There is no excuse for racism and the club need to make an example of them to prevent any further incidents. I would hope if any boro supporters know these people they would tell the club.

I watched the game last night at the Club, and all though our performance was dissapointing, to say the least, I was more annoyed by the awful transmission of the match, screen freezes, blackouts, the occassional benny Hill style of filming, and of course, no commentary, but we did get crowd noise and Management shouts! I feel for those that paid good money out. Don't think I will bother to, until there is some significant emprovement. I doubt if I will watch any future games, and will rely on our excellent radio teams for commentary, where possible.
FaST have to be congratulated for trying to give supporters a chance to view, but currently they are wasting money that could be used more effectively around the club!
As has been said before, it's not the fauly of the home Club always, and if NL are to continue the venture some further expenditure needs to be furnished to update equipment, even if that means higher prices to streaming purchasers!!
As for the game?? Much has been said already, and mirrors have to be looked in to from all concerned!! Not just the players, but EVERYONE involved! Squad, Management and Coaches, this is a CLUB problem, and needs to be sorted very quickly!!
Plus, as I've said many times before, it would be ideal if Management interviews were NOT done straight after the game, when temperarues and emotions are high, and thoughts may be rushed!
It may be far better to wait 24 hours. or so, when thoughts are calmer and more rational!
Will it happen? Answers on a postcard, for those that can remember them!!

Normally I'd agree that manager interviews should take place a little while after the match rather than straight away.
But this interview was EXACTLY what is needed. Spencer is quite right to be frustrated, and the players need to see it. They probably got a lot worse away from the camera, but that interview was needed to show us, and the players, the true thoughts.

Thing is, it isn't JUST the players that are responsible. Clearly there is a mental block when it comes to away games and the responsibility is on both players and managements shoulders. It very rarely seems to be Spencer's fault. In the dressing room give them a dressing down, but he was high on adrenaline and emotion and you could see the steam coming out of his ears.
Think everyone needs to calm down a little bit. If we'd been told after 16 games we'd have only lost 4 and be unbeaten at home we'd have taken it. Clearly there needs to be a look at what is going wrong away, a frank discussion about how the players are feeling playing somewhere other than Cherrywood. The big problem is the next away game is at the only other unbeaten team, Yeovil. But we might rise to the occasion.
Reasons to be cheerful

My two pence worth:
- Streaming Quality: As a far away Boro fan, streaming is the only opportunity to watch Boro. The quality from Cherrywood is excellent. I've learnt to live with some of the more "interesting" streaming from away games. For me, I'm still happy to pay the 9.50. - The game: First 15 minutes neither team looked up to much. From the period from Chippenham to scoring to half time I actually thought we looked alright, got the ball down, had some periods of possession and although we didn't create any clear cut chances looked to taking control of the game. I was cautiously optimistic for the second half. Turned out to be unfounded as we were poor. A lot of misplaces passes, flicks and tricks weren't coming off and often we couldn't pass it 10 yards. Conceded another, pulled one back, looked to be trying hard but without much end product. - Away form: Notably we were much better on the Saturday against Maidenhead than we've been for a while which gave me hope (plus the new signings), but this was back to Torquay/Truro levels of performance. Hoping we be closer to Maidenhead at Yeovil (I saw I win there about 20 years ago, I've also seen us lose 6-3 after being 3-2 up. Hoping for the former).
