A game that fizzled out with both teams having little to offer, other than a drum from the away fans and a penalty that, from where we were sitting, should never have been given!
The best part of the game was the warm-up, where our passing was excellent, but we couldn't apply it to the game and our passing seemed off. A lot of the time it rang bells of Braintree during the long periods of head tennis.
A lot of fatigue, to say the least, from a long period of Saturday-Tuesday games.
On the plus side, attendances slowly creeping up with 752 and the largest 50-50 prize of the season standing at £172!
I fear it's no chance of playoffs anymore, unfortunately. Regardless a season to build on.

We've run out of steam. Think we'd all have settled for this at the start of the season though; competitive for the playoffs at this stage is far better than most realistic hopes. Still not out of reach but looking less likely as with bare bones we are struggling for that vital spark that can unlock teams who turn-up to play with 10 men behind the ball.

Some say that he wasn't the player this season that he was last season, but I can't help feeling that our dip in form (given, some of it against top teams) and Sam Deering's departure is pure coincidence...
Sometimes, all it takes is one or two creative moments in a game to seize the win.
We are missing that bit of pixie dust right now.

Our game is about buzzing around the oppo, then playing good stuff. Lots of energy coupled with plenty of ability.
But the very heavy-legged, flat-footed outing this afternoon was the entire opposite.
I get why, but here's the thing, do you take a step back and work out the problem when the game is in progress, or do more of the same with (rapidly) diminishing returns?
We went for the latter. A poor decision that meant we got what we deserved. The old school tactics of lumping it up the field to see what happens reminded me of our last excursion in National South, which didn't end well.
A bit of collective belief in what we can do can work wonders, but I saw little sign of that today. It was a shame to see players who've done extremely well this season retreat into their shells. Injuries in a small squad, loanees turning up who're clearly not up to speed and playing twice a week obviously doesn't help. I reckon we've seen the limit of what our current business model can deliver.
That's not a bad thing. We're in no danger of being relegated, and at the start of the season I reckon most would be happy with a mid-table finish. That said, we've seen a lot better, so our appetites have been whetted.

Todays game was a very meh game. Neither side looked like running away with it and Chippenham are undefeated in 10 games looking like they are the close game / draw specialists. You could see that today as their game looked to be put as many behind the ball as possible hoof it and try to catch us on the counter.
I would have been happy with mid table if you would have offered it to me at the beginning of the season. We can still make the playoffs being 6 points off with 3 games in hand over most above us.
Spencer needs to sort something as our last 7 games reads won 1, drawn 3 & lost 3 and to be honest we really haven’t look our best in any of those games. Looking at the fixtures it’s clear to see the big break enforced on us with all the postponements is where it looks like we started to fall off the rails up to then we were looking good and competitive.
My concern is moving forward and next season as we do have a small squad and quite a few loan players now how many of the others will leave and what will we be left with I don’t want to get in to old territory again where every season we’re having to start from scratch and rebuild 3/4 of the team.

Very lucky to get the game on at all, considering the amount of water on the pitch at 8-00 a.m., and massive thanks to our ground crew, for making it possible and, in fairness, the pitch held up pretty well through the game although very heavy.
Heavy pitch and constant Sat/Tuesday games, drew what strength we had left, out of the lads, although fair credit to chippers, they handled it a lot better. Some justification for a few more games in the early part of the season to eliviate the clogging up of fixtures in the later stages.
0-0 written all over the game, until a pen that looked extremely harsh, just before half time, swung it their way. Check the videos for confirmation, Mason swung at a loose ball, with no idea the oncoming player was behind him, who took the force of his leg. No intention? No penalty, but that's how it goes.
Play offs look a bit distant now, but still possible if we can summon the energy for the remaining games.
A fantastic achievement if we make it, and a fabulous season to date, which we can all be proud of.
Heads up boys, and lets get a reaction against Slough on Tuesday.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

Agree it was a harsh penalty, but doesn't need to be intention for it to be a foul. Frustrating game not to get something from. I hope we can find a little bit of form as the season closes and finish on a high!
