Well that was a bit of fun. 8 goals, plus one missed pen. Post hit twice. Bar hit twice. Keeper made three good saves. One off the line, and one disallowed, and numerous chances squandered.
It really was a fairground shootout, and Jack Turner won't have to wash his kit tonight.
Biggest mis-match since the Cove psf, but some good air in the lungs for the boys.
Like the look of Silva and Purcell, but it was only Porchester, and not their full squad either so I heard, so we will see how they fair if they play on Saturday!
But the boys enjoyed themselves, and everyone was baying for a Johnny O goal, and nearly got it late on when he smashed one against the bar!
Fair play to Porchester though, they kept plugging away, when totally overwhelmed.

Aside from the goals we missed a pen, hit the bar twice, the post once, their keeper made loads of saves including some very good ones, there were several comical pin-ball moments in their six-yard box and we failed to hit the target on probably another 30+ occasions. Must improve our shooting... Jack could have leaned against the post and read a paper, it was that one-sided! We are now a class apart and so different from our 2-0 win over them in the Cup semi-final last March. EDIT: Bob beat me to it!

Number 15 Silva was class!

Number 15 Silva was class! It may have been lower opposition, but I like the way his timing and movement into space looking to receive the ball, rather than leaning on the centre back and waiting for it to come to him, created problems for the defence and made chances for himself and the team...

If that Portchester line up resembles in any way their starting eleven next Saturday then the Wessex League must be awful - they're seven points clear of the 2nd placed team and have a game in hand. It very much looks like they chose to bin the Hants Cup to focus on progressing to the Southern League South which. let's face it, is a far bigger prize for an ambitious club. A team of enthusiastic Sunday league level players is not a match for a National South squad team, and *spoiler alert* it wasn't. I'm not entirely sure the stand-ins enjoyed their night out, although they can always boast to their mates they played at a decent ground once. It was fun to watch though. If John had scored instead of rattling the woodwork, it'd have been perfect.

Silva released by Crawley apparently. Looked half decent, but against a team of youngsters out of their depth. Roll on Saturday, to see if he can cut it at NLS. If he was anything good enough to play for Crawley, then he could be ok.

Regarding Portchester's squad, it was mainly players from their U19s. They're obviously concentrating on their unbeaten run in the league.
