Excellent performance, and it could well have been four or five, against a really strong side in Oxford City. I'm sure that crossbar is still rattling from Jordy's thunderbolt, and their keeper's hands much the same from Ricky's drive effort, or was it Sam, not sure!
Whatever, it was a really strong effort from all and sundry, and Selim rightly got Man of the Match for an outstanding game to celebrate his contract, but you also have to feel for Hish who's two goals got us the start, and who also gets better by the game, and would have got the award on any other day!
Overall, a good day all round, and a perfect leader in to next Saturday and Sutton.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!! or whites as it will be then.

Good win today when it seemed like we were playing against not only Oxford but the referee. 1st half I thought he was impartial and fair but 2nd half it was almost like he was trying to level the game for Oxford so we didn’t win by too much. There were ridiculous stoppages for mediocre challenges and a blantant handball in the area which he had an unobstructed view of and somehow didn’t blow.

Apologies, I'm told the volley that stung the keeper was from Lokko!! sorry Lokko, and he also holds the defence superbly every game.

Difference between this and other games this season was WE TOOK OUR CHANCES EARLY - Hish had us finally deliver on what we promise week after week and give us an early cushion by finding the net... Then Jack pulled off some cracking saves to keep the score to zero and provided the highlight of the game: coming forward to punch the ball, he clattered both Oxford players who were determined to stop him, knocking them over like skittles as he made his punch and won a foul at the same time!
All those other weeks we would have undeservedly lost this game 1-0 having failed to assert our dominance with scoring, so second half we were able to play within ourselves and hit Oxford on the break... Finally a properly professional performance that got the result we have so often merited this season yet failed to achieve.

Phew! We rode out that 15 min period in the last quarter where we sat back and forgot that we had the oppo under control and instead let them come at us. They scored. Then, we quickly got our Mojo back to take the game with relative ease. 2 shots to them? Impressive play and a joy to watch. Selim = Sublime. Both our goals were pure quality! Sutton - be afraid.. Be Very Afraid......!

Three shots, not two. We had five, and converted two.
This league continues to be about tight margins. We got it right today, but did we play better than against Bath, St Albans etc? Possibly not. But we converted our chances and were much more solid in defensive midfield and at the back, which made the difference.
We've also learned their no. 6 is for the taking when we go to their place. No doubt notes have been made (I'd like to think).
There were several Boro' MotM performances today. Salim got the award (and deservedly so, the best complete performance I've seen from him so far, and he still has plenty of room to improve). Go for it!
But, leaving aside Kevin Lokko doing his stuff, which we (perhaps lazily) expect him to do week in, week out, top marks also go to Jordan on the left and the two Jacks - Ball for never getting fazed under pressure and Turner for keeping his concentration in dangerous situations. All three are really growing at this level. Keep it up guys.
Oxford City are a decent team, they spray it around nicely, but their undoing today was the lack of a telling final ball. Our defensive organisation played a large part in denying them the space to do that. Good. Whilst we aren't exactly tearing the league apart we are learning. And that's good too.

That clears it up - a load of us thought it was their forward at first then Jack from the body language of the ref who did not make it at all clear who he’d carded!
