Biggleswade currently 3 up so looks like them in FA cup A note for the tannoy etc, we're playing Biggleswade TOWN. Biggleswade is a separate club that also competes in the Southern League Central. The former are 15th (out of 20), the latter are in 8th spot. There's also a Biggleswade United who play at Step 5, in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier. Average attendances this season, so far: 148 - Biggleswade Town 141 - Biggleswade 133 - Biggleswade United A smallish town in Bedfordshire (pop. 22,000) with three clubs that have pretty equal support is slightly insane. No doubt there are reasons ...

A very comfortable 'training game' win against a spirited Cove side that couldn't match the strongish side that we put out, as the score shows.
Having said that, and to their credit, Cove didn't give up and worked hard throughout, so full marks to them.
The speed of Salim and Michael, plus the guile of Sam and the returning Paul Hodge was just to much for them to cope with, and but for the keeper making some excellent saves, and our wasteful opportunities that occurred regularly, particularly to Liam who just can't find his touch, the score line could/should have been so much bigger.
As is the way in these sort of games we tended to get a bit blase and sloppy towards the end, and gave away to very silly goals, and that is an area of concern that has to be sorted!! 90 minute concentration is essential no matter who we are playing. Worthing will be a very different matter on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

Credit to Cove for giving it their best shot tonight. They always looked good for a goal right from being in our box in the first 30 seconds, so 2 to them, despite any slackness on our part, is worthy of a cheer. Putting aside any disclaimers about the relative strengths of the sides, I think we canlearn a thing or two from the game: - Hodgy made an immediate impact in midfield and his creativity, energy and desire to get on the end of a goal scoring opportunity was evident. Scored two, had one disallowed and struck a belter that hit the post. Bravo! Hope you make the team...
- Michael can actually make it past about half a dozen defenders into the box with the ball stuck to his feet. Potential goal of the season if he'd connected properly with the final shot. Looked hungry and focussed. Well done
- Selim has been away in the shadows, but showed he is fit and eager. Super work rate and a great hat trick. MOTM
- Omar kept his head and played a forceful game, focussed on winning and not having a strop with people. Big improvement.
- Despite 1 toe-poked goal from 6 yards, IMHO Liam really showed that he is not of the calibre we require from a centre forward at our level - especially given this was Cove and not Chelmsford defences he was up against... He had at least 5 other chances but lacked the deft touch to finish them. Meanwhile Selim, Hodgy and Michael were doing it right...
Good luck against Worthing on Saturday lads and lets do Biggleswade Town on the 15th and target the £20K prize from the 1st round proper.

Decent win against cove I was surprised we made no subs as once we were comfortably in front I thought he might want to give some other players minutes ready for Saturday, so I’m wondering if we have a few players on pay if you play contracts. Ferdinand almost goal of the season beating half the team as good as it was he could of passed it once in the box but again one of those crazy games. Selim and Hodgy looked sharp and ready I’m wondering why selim hasn’t been able to break in to the squad yet. Liam Ferdinand is struggling and I can’t see how Spencer can stick with him much longer, the keeper did well tonight but other than the close range toe poke he missed chance after chance.
