Today's PSF v Woking. Woking weren't great, there was no gulf in class between the two sides. I saw very little in Woking's performance that would scare other teams in their division (or ours, to be honest). Clearly a work is in progress, but it's mid-July and it was a very hot afternoon. I also get it that established players are just trying to get miles into their legs to prepare for the long haul ahead.
After a very meh first half, where we pretty much replicated our pretty dull, rabbits in the headlights, performance at Dorking, the second half was much, much, better. A bit of belief, aggression, zip, movement and precision changed the game in our favour. At times Woking, particularly their backline, were made to look like the plodders who'd just been promoted from Step 3. Which was interesting.
Spencer loves genuine pace and accuracy on the counter. It's served us well before and did again today; a cracking quick passing move to cut through the defensive line set up Kasimu, who coolly converted. A really nice goal.
It'll be interesting to see who makes the starting line-up on 6 August. I saw some very hungry players, including all of the new signings, staking their claims this afternoon.
But, it's 16 July. Who knows how this will pan out.

Both teams in the first half wanted to play footy even in the heat and were passing it around well but both sides struggled when they got to within 30 yards of goal to the point you struggled to remember if anyone on either team had actually tried shooting!
Their goal came right after the drinks break and we were caught napping through a lack of concentration from not being fully switched on from the restart resulting in the pen.
There were 2 drinks breaks in the game at 20 & 40 minutes which seemed a bit random - I thought the norm was for one soon after 20 mins when a break in play allows it 🤷🏻♂️
As Nigel said the second half saw us decide to take-on Woking as they really were no better in any way than us. From the performance of the teams they are either going to struggle in the National or we will be daring quite well in the South!
Not yet seen the new signings play till today but Lokko at the back and David in midfield look like excellent signings and the trialist 12 looked like a prospect as well!

Think the second half trialist, no: 16? looked good as well.

Think the second half trialist, no: 16? looked good as well. Agreed. Looked strong and a good ball player.
