And another from Totton. CB Adeoye Olumuyiwa. That will upset a few PA people!! Says he's been here before temp, but I can't remember him. That's not difficult, before anyone says anything!! Come on Jonny O, we need you too!!! Name is vaguely familiar Bob. Maybe from the days when that revolving door was on 1600 spin...? Surely we need to retain our fans player of the season....

This is interesting. I've been told by several sources that Rob Prince tells Spencer what the playing budget is from ongoing operations. Anything above that is down to Spencer to cover.
It would appear that Spencer is being bullish. So that will either be covered by him shelling out or by a very significant improvement in our gates - which are low for a team in our position and catchment area for very good reasons. Many lost the faith a long while ago and only some have been attracted back. Is Spencer banking on winning back all of those who went missing, and more? Or is he comfortable to fund the gap?
I really, really don't want to see a repeat of the Simon Hollis/Dent era. That would be a tipping point, and not in a good way.

The budget on players last season was from what I heard above what had been allocated in previous ones as an ideal opportunity to gain promotion had been identified for a few reasons. There were safe-guards put in place with reviews at certain points in the season where if the plan was not working, then the budget would be reduced so as not to financially damage the club by spending good money after bad.
With promotion to the NLS achieved, this is the final step next season that receives the direct benefit of the new deal between the Premier League and the football pyramid where clubs receive a guaranteed sum paid from the pot. The budget last season was lower than the vast majority of clubs in the SLP and was sustainable for us (just) at that level. With the promotion, retention of most of the players and the above reason, there (should be) little to fear on the over-stretching front.
Also since we were last at this level, the good governance of the club has been recognised and the NL are not being dicks like they were previously in demanding a bond from the club just to play in the division and holding-back monies owed to the club ‘just in case’ so hopefully we should have an ok season picking up a few wins along the way and avoid relegation!

That is a pretty good summing up, Hawley Boy. Spencer made it pretty clear at the outset last season that there was a 'gamble' financially on the budget to try and get promotion, as the rewards at the higher level would make it worthwhile for the following (this coming) season.
Full marks to the Owners and Management for taking the chance which, thankfully, has come off, and gives us the opportunity to retain players like Sam and Ricky, and several of last years squad, and pull in others of strength.
Still a bit light on front players, I feel, but the summer is still ahead of us, so lets hope for more to come.
Season ticket purchased, and looking forward to a new challenge.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

He played in five of the first six games of the 2019/20 season. Missed the first game at home to Poole (L1-4) Threee wins followed at Walton, Beaconsfield and home to Merthyr, followed by two defeats at Hayes and home to Truro.

I really, really don't want to see a repeat of the Simon Hollis/Dent era. That would be a tipping point, and not in a good way. Your right. I asked a month or two back why Spencer had decided to push the boat out this season of all seasons, when he has been scrimping and saving nearly every other season, and said there'd be no point in doing this if he withdrew his financial support next season as we'd come straight down. I understand a bit more now, but all I got at the time was a few shrugs and it doesn't really matter. Does he actually have money, or is he just taking a punt? Because I don't want it all to end up as it did with the Hollis/Dent years? We might get a couple more hundred in the CS, mainly because there are some big clubs up there, but the club would be foolish to expect a massive increase.
