For anyone who may not have seen. I've been critical of Spencer on multiple past occasions, but this season he has got it spot on. New signings fitting right in, knowing everything about the players and the opposition. Dotting every i and crossing every t. I'm apprehensive about the upcoming season as I'm sure we all are. If we push hard, we can have an excellent future.

I too have been critical of Spencer having been a supporter for a very long time. But I'd just like to congratulate Spencer and the whole team for a magnificent season with some superb football. The club really is moving in the right direction. Up the Boro!!!

Yes, for once he has financially pushed the boat out and it has paid off. Well done. But not sure why this season of all seasons??
Personally I don't think he really believed we were going to be promoted; now he is probably thinking oh sh*t now I have to keep on splashing out. If he doesn't we will struggle in the league above and come straight back down!

Lets not forget that most of our squad this season has played at Conference South level or higher. Im looking forward to seeing bigger and better things this season and i think you are correct in saying that Spencer didn’t think we would go up, but then again none of us really expected it did we? But my god im so glad we did!

That doesn't make sense! If he, or the owners, 'didn't believe we were going to get promotion' then why the hell would there have been an obvious financial outlay at the start of the season in an effort to 'get' promotion?
Spencer stated very early on, and indeed last season, that there was a considerable financial rebate to Clubs in NL and NL north and South, from Premier League (yes it is good for some things!) and the PFA I believe, that wasn't available to clubs below that and, therefore it was a great incentive to achieve NLS where the extra funds available would assist us to make it viable for us to compete.
Not sure of exact figures, but it was stated a while back that NL Clubs, admittedly full timers, received £30k PER MONTH to assist with their finances, although that was through the lockdown, so not sure what it is now, but there ARE advantages to playing at a higher level.
Actually if you now look at the make up of NLS there is probably LESS travelling than before, forgetting Dover and Taunton, and more chance of regular bigger away support coming to us, which can only be good, as long as our kids behave themselves!
So lets not knock the achievement just as we started it eh? Give them a chance!!!!!!!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

The travelling will be more in Conference South than Southern League Premier South, only to the fact that there will be two more league games. I know the season hasn't finished yet, I just took out second place Dorking Wanderers for easiness.
SLPS - 1474 One way journey 21 League games
CS - 1546 one way journey 23 league games
Only 3 journeys over 100 miles in CS, compared to 5 in SLPS
9 journeys under 50 miles, only drops to 8 in CS.
Longest Trip - Truro City at Plymouth 182miles Shortest Trip - Hartley Wintney 8 miles
Longest Trip - Taunton Town 117m Shortest Trip - Slough Town 21m

I knew you would have chapter and verse Mark. I just worked on the assumption of only three longish journeys, Taunton, Weymouth and Dover, forgetting about the extra games due to the League extension!
As it looks from the projection map, Farnborough is actually slap bang in the middle of the Clubs currently positioned for NS League, which is pretty useful. If Dorking don't make it it could be even better from a possible away crowd point of view.

I think you misunderstood me. I said if he doesn't continue splashing out (as he does now) then we could struggle. When he hasn't splashed out then we have struggled in the SLPS.

Anyone who listened to his radio interviews in the last few weeks would have heard from Spencer that we were underdogs and it would be difficult for us to get through the play offs etc etc I don't remember any mention of the subsidy; it would be really useful to know what this is for a club like ours.

I think his statements in the last few weeks were correct, in that we had made it difficult for ourselves, by a few slip up results, and were now considered underdogs by the amount of work we would have to put in, considering the position of the other three Clubs in contention. A massive task that we, thankfully, achieved!

Found this from November 2021:
The Premier League has today announced additional funding for clubs in EFL League One and Two, as well as the 66 clubs in the three National League divisions, to help with their continued recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Premier League has committed to a further £20 million for League One and Two clubs in the 2021/22 season, along with £5m to National League and National League North and South clubs between now and 2025.

He said we will have 30% less travelling. Needs to get his route map out and try again.
