Excellent win for us once again! Hayes' games in hand won't even be able to catch us soon Interesting to note Kings Langley tonight, starting bottom of the table, smacking Hartley 5-0. Wrexham did the same to Aldersh*t too. Tee hee.

Dante as MOTM was richly deserved - he was the real difference between the sides - he just stopped everything chucked at him keeping us in the game in the first half and if he had been in Beaconsfield's goal he would have stopped both of our goals as well! His distribution at times was fantastic. At one point from a kick, Selim running on to it on the left wing just inside the Beaconsfield half took the ball out of the air on his foot whilst jumping - it was an absolute sublime piece of skill and a cracker of a ball to reach him... A couple more diagonals from Dante to Little John were just as good.
2 clean sheets in 2 games! I just hope there's not too many niggles in the squad ready for Saturday and Banbury turning-up with a chip on their shoulder and smarting from the FA Cup defeat.

Very likely down to a lack of training sessions since he signed, but David Pratt was playing too deep tonight, getting in the way of Ricky and Hodgey while not offering a target for Sam's passes. I want to see David treading on the toes of the last defender, pushing them back to create pockets of space to do what we do rather well. And David will get his fair share of good opportunities if we do this.
The outcome was that we played constipated football that a decently organised Beaconsfield coped with just fine. It took a dead ball and a breakaway to get our goals, while, for all our possession in open play, little of worth was delivered as we kept tripping over each other. Meanwhile, Beaconsfield were pretty effective at creating their own chances, almost all from us losing possession high up the pitch. We have Dante to thank for keeping them at bay. It could have been a Swindon Supermarine Part II if the oppo's finishing had been sharper, but, thankfully, it wasn't.
We're still climbing a learning curve. The good thing is we're winning games whilst we're learning.

Gotta love it when keepers get MOTM. All concerns about losing Beachie this year have been well and truly dispelled by Dante's performances. No.1's don't score many goals, but they sure can win points! Bravo!

I thought on balance of play and chances a draw would have probably been a fairer result. We really can't keep on relying on Dane keeping us in the game until we wake up. He could be recalled from loan any time and then we'd been in stuck!

I really think I must watch a different game as at no point yesterday did I think we wouldn't win the game, OK we weren't at our best but it was a comfortable 2-0 win. As for Dante well he is superb and we are lucky to have him but surely making saves is what he is there for..we are 10 unbeaten in all competitions, top scorers in the league and top of the league and still people are not happy.

Winning when not playing too well is a great asset to have, and something the best teams can do well!
Maybe Boro supporters have be so conditioned with boom and bust and doom and gloom for so many years, that they find it difficult to get customised to the good things that are happening just now!
Attendances are returning and growing, the ground looks superb, some great football being played and people are smiling again around the ground.
What's not to like?
If we go on to get promotion, or someone else beats us to it, then well done to them, but lets just push on and make it as difficult as possible for them to overtake us.
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

Were you at Swindon Supermarine? We played exactly the same last night and got taken to the cleaners by the home side, shipping five goals. Admittedly we had a stand-in keeper who was nowhere near as good as Dante Baptiste (who was recovering from a concussion injury incurred in the game at Chesham). Fortunately, Beaconsfield, although solid enough, lacked the edge that Supermarine showed on the day. So it's not a question of being "happy", it's recognising there are weaknesses that need to be addressed if we're to achieve the objective.

This Saturday/Tuesday routine is a factor that has to be taken in to consideration also, and that applies I'm sure.
We seem to be able to go flat out first half on a Saturday, blow teams away with our pace early on and settle back a bit second half.
Come the Tuesday, our early pace is on show again for around twenty/twenty five minutes, and then we settle back, which again allows the opposition to come at us again, resulting in a bit of 'squeaky bum' time if we haven't killed the game off already.
Now that may be for several reasons, but I suspect it's mainly down to part time fitness training, the self travelling situation for away games, insufficient rest periods between games, and the the ages of some of our 'senior' players, none of which any of us can control.
They are the things that probably we, as supporters, have to accept at this level of football but, if we truly have intentions to progress upwards, and I really believe that the intentions and financial input that has been made proves we do, then it may well need some extra input to find the resources to achieve that aim via a larger squad of quality players to allow players the rest required.
Yes we have a large squad listed already, but how many of those, below the 16 or so, could 'really' challenge at the highest level?
Those aims and resources may, or may not, be achievable, and I fully understand why, but we can't knock the situation so far can we?
Top of the League and 9 points clear, who would not have grabbed for that in August??
Yes Hayes have games in hand, BUT THEY HAVE TO WIN THEM!!! Tuesday night could be very interesting.
Do we sacrifice the Trophy game to win Tuesday??? Heart says win both, head is undecided?
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
