Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear… full back did not look up before making a 10 yard pass back to the keeper so did not see Fernandes standing there, who said thank you very much, stepped around the keeper and passed it into the empty net!

Great result from a team that was a bit makeshift positionally although I felt the margin flattered us.
2nd half was very comfortable and we never looked threatened to surrender the lead and if pushed we could score another. The 2 goals in the second half were from collective brain-farts by Bowers players rather than our brilliance, however that said you have to have the players able to be in places to force these errors… On today’s showing it makes you wonder how poor Aldershot must have been to lose to them!

Eight of the Bowers team that started today, started against Aldershot, so they must be bad or Farnborough are just very good.
Today's win means Weston Super Mare away on November 13th is now postponed.
The Second round is on November 27th, when Conference South & North join the draw.
Possible Opponents.
These are the Step 4 team through. AFC Totton Bedfont Sports Brentwood Town Canvey Island Bracknell Town Chipstead Faversham Town Frome Town Felixstowe & Walton United Binfield Marlow Welwyn Garden City Berkhamsted Larkhall Athletic Plymouth Parkway Uxbridge Hanwell Town Willand Rovers
Not sure how regionalised it will be, but on todays fixtures Farnborough were East and Hartley were west as they beat Melksham

Bracknell home or away would be nice, but you just know it will be something like Felixstowe, Canvey, Kingston or Hayes away don't you??
Whatever, bring them on.

Am not sure that Bowers were up for the match and may have had one eye on the FA Cup game next weekend. However bearing in mind we had a make shift team with several players having to play out of their normal positions it was a good win. Another Trophy home draw would be nice.

Leaving aside their little lad playing in the hole, who played well and who had a few tricks, I was far from convinced that B&P had much going for them. Lumping it to the big lad coming in at the far post appeared to be the plan, which was undone by Richard Orlu quietly doing a fine job.
That the Shots lost in the FA Cup against an Isthmian League-level defence that severely lacked pace is food for thought. Can Aldershot really be that bad? Or can B&P really raise their game to levels that absolutely were not on show yesterday?
I didn't see anything in their midfield or forward play that would point to the latter, it was just yeah whatever Step 3 stuff that a Conference level team really ought to cash in on. We ARE Step 3 and we did cash-in with a performance that was an improvement on Dorchester last week, but far short of what we are capable of. Maybe we just did enough to get the job done and left it at that, which is fair enough.

Still missing the obvious target man up front though Nigel and, for all his efforts Michael isn't that man, and he got trampled on most of the time yesterday. Nor, unfortunately, is Connor but at least he is an out and out striker! The lad from Shots is lively and quick, but I don't see him as a C/F line leader either. Deputy/stand in striker CJ might have been the answer, but injury ruled that one out. At least he would have given their back four something to think about.
From Spencer's interview last night though it sounds like that issue may be being addressed soon, and not before time, and YES I know they don't exactly grow on trees, or are available in the budget shop!!, but lets hope he gets his man soon!!
Overall yesterday a comfortable win, whilst not playing particularly well, but a win is a win!
COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!
