F T Boro 5 Shots 7 !!!! Blimey, talk about testing the new scoreboard!!
What a crazy game but great entertainment on a glorious afternoon! Decent 600+ crowd and football really has come home!!
End to end, as the score suggests, and Boro more than held their own against the National League side.
A very iffy pen for them and an equally iffy offside goal, was the difference, added to which Boro hit the post twice as well.
So, as I say, as psf's go this was really entertaining, and read in to it what you will, but overall I was impressed with the Boro squad put out today, and if this is the standard we are bringing in then I am really looking forward to our League campaign this year!
Don't think I could have the same feelings if I was a Shots supporter!!
Anyway good to be back, and the 50/50 winner was Zak Ward with ticket 5074 winning £74.
Roll on Saturday, COME ON YOU YELLOWWSSAA!!

A very enjoyable afternoon, and top marks to both sets of players for putting on such an entertaining show on a blazing hot afternoon.
And it was really good to see so many familiar faces again.
A video of Nic's free kick is already up on twitter and hopefully (depending on the status of the trialists on both sides I'd imagine) fcvideo will be able to put up their highlights before too long. Looking forward to seeing Cooksley's net-blaster again!

Bearing in mind we let in 7, this may seem a stupid question but how did the new goalie play? Hope we can replace Liam with a keeper as reliable good as he was.

We had different keepers in each half, both triallists. First half keeper was ok, 2nd one not so good, was young and small and had no real presence

Goalkeeper is obviously the biggest challenge for Management. To replace Liam is a huge task, but lets hope they find another rabbit in the hat!!i
The two lads that played yesterday didn't give the greatest confidence, but then we are very spoilt in last years custodian, so comparison will always be difficult.
No fault to them for the goals, except maybe one in the first half when there was misunderstanding between keeper and defenders.
Other than that the Shot finishing was clinical, as a NL side should be, and they were aided by two mishaps on behalf of the officials for two of the later goals.
More concerning from their point of view is that we scored five and hit the post twice!!
I was more than happy with the standard of players that we seem to be attracting which augers well for the season if we can do the sums and keep them here??

It's worth nothing that Orlu didn't play and I presume that Rose wasn't down on the teamsheat as a trialist, so that was without out first choice pairing at the back.
