Just noticed on other sites of Clubs in Tier 2 ( NL admittedly) that the Tier 2 regulations now prohibit smoking and vaping from ALL areas of the ground, even those in open areas! Whilst we have permitted smoking in open areas, will this now be policy for our level, being Tier 2, even though we are level 3 and not NL?

Forgot to add, they are also insisting on masks or face visors for everyone in all areas, strict six person spacing, plus bars and catering areas closed.
Could be difficult to 'police'!!

Yes it was on the Shots forum Nigel, but also on the Woking one, so maybe it is just a National League ruling, but they are both Tier 2, as we are, so I just wondered why, or if, it should be different between Leagues in the same Government Tier.
It was also on the Woking site where the compulsory wearing of masks/shields was mentioned.
I suppose we have to wait for confirmation and instruction from the Southern League! Can't see they would go against Government ruling though.

This relates to "Elite" sport. The EPL and EFL have both agreed that spectators wear face coverings so it's understandable the National League will walk in lockstep with them. And smoking is barred at EPL and EFL level anyway.
Government guidance does not mandate face coverings or smoking bans at Step 3+, so it's up to the competitions and clubs to make their own calls. I believe Wimborne required face coverings to be worn at their home games. And some clubs, Walton Casuals among them, bar smoking, but they'd decided to do that well before anyone had heard of COVID19.

And here's a more rounded explanation of what the EPL are up to - they've decided to mandate face coverings as a means of returning stadiums to 1/3 capacity sooner rather than later:-

I was told to mask up ‘as I was not in a bubble’ in the open air at Poole yesterday.
My Russian hat and mask were a sight to behold! Fortunately I gave up smoking in 1975.
