Poor decision, yes.
Should we be surprised? No.
It was inevitable with the way football is going now. As the continental competitions and top leagues grow more and more, this will take a backseat.

This is just the FA trying to protect the big clubs with no regards to lower league clubs and the funds we need from the replays if we aren’t the home team and get a draw.
They will eventually devalue it enough that lower league clubs won’t make the money from it so won’t give it their all.

Horsham took Barnsley to a replay.
Cray Valley took Charlton to a replay, both games were on TV.
Just this season alone.
We weren't far off a replay from either Sutton or Wrexham.
Strengthen the financial pyramid? Hahaha, do me a favour.

What they need to do with this approach is copy the French FA and guarantee the lower placed club has the home tie when drawn to mitigate against losses.

What they need to do with this approach is copy the French FA and guarantee the lower placed club has the home tie when drawn to mitigate against losses. Would that definitely work? Wonder what the figures would be if a lower league club was drawn at home to a top team on TV, compared with a tie the other way round that was not broadcast on TV. Seem to recall a manager a while back where his Conference club was drawn at home to a team, I think it was Arsenal, and he switched the tie, allegedly, because there was more money in going to Highbury. No idea what happened to him. Anyway, I wonder if that would work, HBB. Either way it is probably just pie in the sky to be honest. If it helps out the Top 20, and particularly the Big Six, they'll do whatever it is!

Just further proof of the tail wagging the dog, in my view!!
The top Clubs will always influence the F.A., and it makes the F.A. look good in the International world to have big clubs regularly in European tournaments.
If it's no replays from First Round Proper onwards, then it would make a bit of sense to compensate clubs if they increased the winning and losing bonus's, and travelling costs to the away team to help make up for it.
If it continues in the same vein, the Cup will become more and more devalued, which will be a shame.

Abhorrent decision.
The FA have just allowed the Premier League to kill the greatest, oldest and most famous cup competition in the World.
Every club should put out a statement like Tranmere have or an interview condemning this disgraceful decision like Marc White has.
Spencer, over to you.

A cynic might say that they knew the announcement would recieve backlash and calls for a boycott and therefore waited until each club had applied for the FA Cup for this season, and is now too late to boycott.
Of course, thats just what a cynic would say and not my view at all.

Bravo to the club for stating its view on this.
Who are these meddling fools that think changing tradition for the sake of premiership club league/domestic cup/euro cups ambitions is a good thing?
I bet they never got "Shoot" magazine back in the day!

Wow, just Wow, how the hell can the F.A. live with themselves? Pander to the glory boys, to give them an extended summer break to rest!!' In the words or Ricky Tomlinson...my arse!!! Any chance of a break they get, they swan off abroad to the sunshine for tournaments or psf's. Rest? what rest?
They ought to try Taunton and Truro's schedule to see what the real world is!!
If the PL clubs really want to have some sort of break, they should put their reserves or U.23's in the F.A. Cup instead of their precious little mamby pamby starlets.
Haven't watch the PL for nearly two years now, and this has convinced me not to in the future.
Great statement from the Club and excellent interview from Spencer, and we aren't alone, the whole of football below Championship seems to be joining in with condemnation too, and rightly so.
Wonder what will happen if Clubs boycott the competition, in unison? Can't fine or suspend everyone can they?
On the other hand, we accepted it when F.A.Trophy and County Associations adopted a no replay situation, and no one complained!! Should have seen the writing on the wall I suppose, or is it that there is more money available in the F A Cup than those two??!!
