Good to see the place buzzing today with plenty of home and away support. I thought the lads put up a commendable effort against the run-away league leaders and could so easily have made it 2 - 2 if a bit of luck had gone our way.
We suffered because of 3 defensive errors today - the third being quite bizarre in the way we stopped chasing the ball. Still, we gave Yeovil a run for their money and if we'd performed as well in the in the first half as we did in the second, things may have been different. Congrats to all the ground staff for getting the game on. The pitch didn't appear to cut up as badly as I thought it would, which bodes well for Tuesday's game. Congrats too to all staff and volunteers for making all the family day events work out and for dealing with the huge demand for food and drinks today. Should have earned the club a few bob I'd imagine....

Real shame we did not get a deserved point from that - we certainly matched them over the 90 and having spent 20 minutes knocking on their door for the equalizer they caught us on the counter and made the scoreline look a lot more flattering than it was!
Was a great game and advert for footy at this level with a proper buzz around the place, a fair bit was around 500 Yeovil fans who had the whole of the MRE to themselves and put up some great support for their lads.
Kudos to Phil, Kev and all the others for getting this game on with the weather we have had, a sterling effort all round. I just hope there's no hangover from today's efforts on Tuesday!

Totally agree with the praise for those who put the hard yards in to get the game on. Thank you!
However, the reason I'm posting in this thread ... was the ref really from Mansfield? Erm, why? how? Mansfield to Farnborough is a 160 mile journey that tskes 3 hours if the roads are empty. Whatever the answer, his performance gave no indication whatsoever he might be a rising star on a fast track to the Premier League. He was better than some we've seen this seaon, but was a long way from being the best.

I did notice quite a large movement of the PRE boys at half time coming round past the big stand, and I wondered if the out one gate through the car park and in the other gate system was going to work, as suggested in an earlier posting.
Then I looked at the MRE and there wasn't a hint of movement from Yeovil supporters. They are obviously used to segregation and staying in the same spot.
If ours did go by the outside route, then I presume they occupied the Chairman's mound terrace, which would make them very close to Yeovil when coming out!
Pure assumption on my part of course, but if that did occur then much greater security is needed on that front for any future large attendance match.
We shouldn't 'have' to do it, and the vast majority of Yeovil supporters were decent and good people, supporting their very good team, and behaving themselves as we all should.
They, or any other club, shouldn't have to put up with these nutters who think it's clever to have a pop at opposition, and spoil such a great day for the club.
Regrettably, complete segregation may well turn out to be the only option in future, and keep our yoof held in the one section until they learn to behave.
One day they will pick on a club with some real nasties, and get the good battering they deserve, but Farnborough Football Club does not deserve to be involved with that either!
Things are going too well at Farnborough to let these numpties spoil it.

Yes the ref was Really from Mansfield. He was a replacement yesterday for the allocated ref who was from East London. Not content to travel down this morning, he came down last night and stayed in a local hotel, charged to the FA as they had replaced the original ref. He was at the ground from 8.30 this morning to monitor the condition of the pitch which was greatly appreciated.

Things are going too well at Farnborough to let these numpties spoil it. Completely wrong assumption Bob. None of the fans from either side switched ends, especially not out through the car park. We don't allow that. The only trouble was outside in the car park which would have been no different had segregation been in place so not sure where you're going with that argument? A great atmosphere in the ground spoilt by a few idiots outside, all on film and now with the police.

Thanks for putting that right Phil, and I apologise for an incorrect assumption.
I'm very happy with what went on inside the ground. Great to see the place buzzing, and everyone had an enjoyable day, apart from the result, but that is what makes football, and we have now given the top two Clubs in the League some very hard games to think about, which is encouraging!
I just witnessed a large number of pre boys moving off at half time that's all, and didn't notice them returning!!

I thought Yeovil showed some class today with the way they all came out as a squad to warm up, all returned to the dressing room prior to kick-off as one unit and at the end of the game, after applauding their fans, formed a huddle with the manager for a quick wash-up before finally leaving the pitch. I believe that discipline such as that outside of the 90 minutes playing time can only help a team operate with the trust, unity and commitment to each other that helps overall team performance during the 90 minutes.
