Or, indeed Slough, if the report of 2000 capacity is correct?, and as for their segregation system??
There are so many places we visit that we, as mere mortals, can see do not comply!
Hayes was another one that had a restriction of 1600!! Wonder what would have happened had they beat us in the play offs?
I'm amazed sometimes how the ground grading officials actually do their job!!
Don't tell me... they are all volunteers!!
The quoted Slough capacity is incorrect. For example, there were 2,200 there last November when Grimsby visited in the Cup. Presumably the local authorities capped the capacity for that game for safety reasons (such as insufficient trained stewards to manage a larger attendance), the same reasons that heavily restricted the capacity for the play-off final at Hayes & Yeading. But that's not to say both grounds aren't capable of holding 3,000+, which is the grading requirement.
There's a lot of wibble spoken about ground grading. In my opinion the Step 2 criteria to play in the National League regional divisions are not that stringent compared with the level below, although some of the upgrades can be expensive. The basic differences:-
3,000 ground capacity (1,950 at Step 3)
Dugouts for a minimum of 11 people (8)
6 turnstiles (3)
Press seating for 6 (4)
180 lux requirement for existing floodlights and 200 lux for new installations (120)
Separate medical rooms for players and spectators (can be a shared facility at Step 3).
The big step up in the grading requirements is from Step 2 to Step 1, however I don't think we need to worry about that at the moment.
